Images Of Singapore From The Japanese Perspective (1868-1941)

About This Book

Japan's "open door" policy started in 1868 and as a result Singapore became a location for Japanese travel, and commerce and migration of many kinds. This impressive collection of clearly-reproduced documents, postcards and other memorabilia sheds light on the often considerable Japanese presence in Singapore and on Japanese perspectives of the Colony between 1868 and 1941. Published to celebrate the 40th anniversary of the Japanese Cultural Society of Singapore. Trilingual in Japanese, English and Chinese.

(By compiling about 1,000 images from 150 Postcards, 40 Maps and 40 Photo Albums)
